Old Soul by Vianney Halter and Massena LAB
Description
Old Soul runs on a Minerva 17'22, a hand-wound calibre first developed in the 1920s and used in pocket watches until 1942. Vianney Halter and Massena LAB have revived it and built a new display around it.
The time is split across three registers: hours at 3 o'clock, seconds at 9, and minutes on the outer chapter ring, shown by a blued steel arrow on a turning sapphire disc, so the minute hand seems to float. Massena LAB says no vintage movement has been used this way before.
Halter's hand shows in his typeface for the numerals, a studded shield on top of the crystal and a studded crown signed VH. The case is 42 mm of stainless steel, water resistant to 3 ATM.
Limited to 47 pieces, on navy blue Italian calfskin. The top lug is engraved with Delmore Schwartz: “Time is the fire in which we burn.”
